Sandy Bridge Debacle

Posted by dogman1234 on February 2, 2011

Lately, Intel has released news about the new Sandy Bridge North-bridge codenamed: Cougar Point. The issue is that the NB chipset has specific transistors that fail in a configuration that degrades connections to internal peripherals. Those peripherals are the Serial ATA Generation II connectors. The connectors are coded ‘2’ through ‘5’.

The initial look into Cougar Point shows that a performance degradation occurs at a 5% interval every year. Concerns about this are the loss of connection, corruption of hardware/information and/or loss of data.

If you or someone you know has a P67 Motherboard, contact the vendor you/they purchased form, or contact the motherboard manufacturer about their return/exchange policies.
